SALISBURY School's under-16 basketball team has continued its winning streak, storming to victory in the English Schools National Basketball Finals.

The semi-final and final matches, held in Nottingham earlier this month, saw the team march to an emphatic win over Moseley Park, from Wolverhampton, to set up a showdown with Thomas Keble School, from Gloucester.

And after a tight first half, Salisbury finally turned on the style to claim the title with a 47-29 victory.

Head of PE at Salisbury School, Sean Egan, said: "It was a great performance from the entire squad who were a credit to the school during the day.

"Top scorer was Lino Owuso-Asare, who notched 32 points in the two games.

"However, the quality of the squad was emphasised by the fact that every member got on the score sheet in the final game."

Mr Egan thanked all the families, teachers and pupils who have supported the team, which was only formed two years ago, but is yet to be beaten at under-16 level.

He added: "It was a real team effort by all, and I would like to thank all those who have supported the boys in achieving this great triumph."
