Saturday's rain frustrated two of Northampton Exiles' sides in their search for Saracens Herts Cricket League points on Saturday, but the 2nd XI had the time to defeat Parkfield and Headstone 2nd XI by six wickets and take the lead in Division Nine. Micky Deller (4-9 in 5 overs) got Exiles off to the best of starts, reducing the home side to 5-3, and fellow-seamers Shaunak Acharya (3-21) and Ravi Booka (2-17) followed this up, with support from Ian Montague (1-26) as Parkfield & Headstone were dismissed for 91 in the 42nd over. With rain threatening, Exiles reached their target in under 25 overs, Tony O'Neill (11) and Irfan Farooq (16) making a solid enough start, which was consolidated by Kirti Swift (25*) and Montague (20) as Exiles raced to 92-4.

Exiles 1st XI lost their lead in Div 4 as rain fell after tea to deny them the chance of defeating Cockfosters 2nd XI. Exiles eventually reached 181-4 off their 53 overs in a solid display, David Taylor (48) sharing half-century stands with Paul Frost (28) and Rizwan Badar (34) before Haroon Akhtar (18), Adrian Browne (19*) and Amar Patel (12*) added impetus to the last few overs of the innings. After a delayed start after tea, Cockfosters had reached 23-0 in two brief spells totalling fewer than six overs before the game was abandoned.

Northampton Exiles 3rd XI seemed to be on the way to an interesting finish with Hatfield Crusaders 2nd XI when rain intervened with nearly twelve overs still to be bowled. Exiles had put the home side in and restricted them to 136-7 in their 47-over allotment (Dharmesh Patel 5-46 from 20 overs) but got off to a poor start in reply until Jaydip Desai (32), Patel (17) and Pranav Ray (20*) gave some substance to the middle order. Exiles had recovered to 105-6 when rain finally forced the players off the field and caused the gamble of inserting the opposition to misfire.

On Thursday, Northampton Exiles take on Montenotte in the 2nd annual match for the Micky Plum Memorial Trophy.

At the weekend, Exiles 1st XI travels on Saturday to Wormley in Div 4, while the 2nd and 3rd XIs are both at home, respectively to Datchworth 2nd XI in Div 9 and Berkhamsted 3rd XI in Div 11. On Sunday, a club XI plays Kansara in a friendly.
