Middlesex County League round-up

Second-placed Winchmore Hill failed to make ground on leaders Ealing in the battle for the Division One title.

Both sides had to settle for just one point after drawing their games on Saturday.

Hill found the going tough at home to Teddington, with the visitors making 302-8 from 64 overs.

In reply, Sean Levy (65) helped Hill to 187-9 from their 56 overs.

Hill are still nine points behind Ealing, but now just two points ahead of third-placed Brondesbury.

In Division Two, Enfield were beaten by 62 runs at home to Uxbridge. The visitors declared on 279-6 in 48 overs. The hosts, in reply, were bowled out for just 217, despite the efforts of John Allen (58) and Ben Collins (79).

Southgate earned four points in a draw at North Middlesex.

The hosts declared on 302-7 from 59 overs, while Southgate finished on 237-8 in 41 overs. They are now third in the table.

Saracens Herts League Southgate Adelaide kept up their Division Three promotion push with an impressive win over Dunstable Town. Adelaide's spin attack of Anthony Morris, Neil Watts and South African Brad Isherwood made inroads into the Bedfordshire side's batting as they finished up on a below-par 203 all out.

In reply, Adelaide got off to a bad start, but skipper King, with 89 not out, saw them home by six wickets with seven overs to spare.

This leaves the Waterfall Road team in third place in the table.

Meanwhile, Cockfosters drew at County Hall, while Botany Bay went down to leaders Totteridge.

It was a great weekend for Winchmore Hill-based Northampton Exiles, who gained their first league victory of the season in Division Four.

Their win over Old Elizabethans moved them off the bottom of the table. The foundation was laid by Micky Plum (54) and Paul Frost (51), but they still had to negotiate a middle-order collapse from 123-1 to 143-7 before a declaration at 183-9.

Elizabethans got off to a useful start, but slipped from 39-0 to 58-5 against the left-arm medium pace of Corin Hosier (4-34). They were eventually dismissed for 153 to give the Exiles a 30-run victory with just ten balls remaining.

North Enfield enjoyed a seven-wicket win at Cheshunt after bowling the hosts out for just 168.
