Enfield Town 2
Harrow Borough 0
Pre-season friendly

Former Enfield favourite Dave Howell brought his Harrow Borough team to Goldsdown Road on Saturday, as Town continue to step up their preparations ahead of the season's opener against Harlow Town on August 13.

Town manager Jim Chandler fielded two completely different sides in each half, combining a number of trialists with established squad members and new signings.

It was one of the trialists, former Potters Bar Town striker Richard Howard, who scored their first goal eight minutes before the break, holding off a challenge before slotting the ball calmly past Mali international keeper Keita Karamoko.

Howard's goal and his all-round peformance will have done his chances of securing a deal with Town no harm at all.

The changes made by Chandler at the break inevitably broke the rhythm of the game. But exciting new signing Kojo Ofori, formerly with Broadwater Farm, came on and caused all sorts of problems for the over-stretched Ryman Premier League's defence.

Ofori may prove to be a useful secret weapon as Chandler's team aim to get out Southern League Division One East next season.

Town made sure of the win six minutes from the end, thanks to a free kick by an old face, Seb Ndombe. Ndombe's bending 25-yard strike was too hot for Karamoko, who could only help the ball into the back of the net.

Harrow might have been beaten by an even greater margin, had defender Steve Baldwin's goal-bound shot not been hacked clear with Karamoko well beaten.

Town have two more friendlies before the season starts against Hendon, on Thursday next week, and Braintree Town two days later. Both matches are at home.

Enfield Town: First half: A Hall, Campbell, Purcell, Gant, Brotherton, M Negus, R Hall, Smith, Penn, Morgan, Howard. Subs: Nyman.

Second half: Kumatra, Baldwin, R Negus, Velandra, G Hall, Stevenson, Byfield, Riley, Ndombe, Winger, Nyman. Subs: Woodward, Ofori.
