It is perhaps bizarre that when Enfield FC and Enfield Town lock horns for the first time in a league fixture, it will be outside the county.

The big Christmas showdown takes place at Wodson Park in Hertfordshire, home of Ware FC, on Bank Holiday Tuesday.

That is the Es' current home and although the location does detract a little from the fixture, there is still plenty of pride at stake and a decent crowd is expected.

Town will go into the match as favourites in what has been a season of contrasts so far for the two Enfield sides. While Jim Chandler's troops are gunning for a second successive promotion, Kevin Lucas's outfit are sitting just above the relegation zone and still recovering from Saturday's hammering at Great Wakering Rovers.

Town went top of Southern League Division One East on Saturday following a 3-2 win at home to Barton Rovers, though second-placed Boreham Wood could have replaced them this morning if they saw off Stamford last night.

Tuesday's big derby' kick's off at 1pm.

The two teams are back in action again on New Year's Eve. Enfield FC host lowly Berkhamsted Town (1pm), while Enfield Town travel to Arlesey Town (2pm).

The festive period ends with another game for both on Monday, January 2. The Es travel to Ilford, while Town host Wingate & Finchley.

Both sides will be desperate for a good return from the busy Christmas schedule, starting with three points against their fiercest rivals.
