Enfield Town 3
Barton Rovers 2
Southern League Division One East
Town got the three points they needed to go top of the league, but there was a touch of fortune about their victory.
This was a topsy-turvy game that could have gone either way, but for some suicidal indiscipline from the visitors and a stunning Bryan Hammatt late strike that sealed the points.
Rudi Hall gave Town a first-half lead from a free-kick. From the edge of the box, he curled the ball round the wall and past the motionless Barton keeper. But the hosts could not kill off the game.
And two goals from Paul Barnes in a few minutes at the start of the second half put Barton into a shock 2-1 lead.
Town came to life and Niall Ritchie struck the woodwork before Rudi Hall equalised through a twice-taken penalty awarded for handball with 20 minutes to go.
Hammatt then took advantage of some excellent work by Steve Baldwin to seal the win with a cracking strike three minutes from time.
Barton ended the match with nine men, Dave Bound and Tawhid Juneja both seeing red.
