Saracens prop Matt Stevens enhanced his World Cup hopes after a strong showing during the England Saxons' 41-14 win over Tonga.
Stevens has returned to the international fold for the Saxons after a two-year drugs ban and is on target to complete his comeback with a place in England's World Cup squad.
The Saxons were awarded three penalty tries at Kingsholm on Saturday and coach Stuart Lancaster was impressed by Stevens.
Lancaster said: “Our scrum was outstanding and Matt gets better with every game at tight-head.”
Stevens was joined in the side by Sarries full-back Alex Goode and second row Mouritz Botha.
In other action, prop Mako Vunipola scored during England Under-20's 33-25 win over Ireland in their opening Junior World Cup game.
The forward is moving to Saracens this summer and he scored one of their four tries in the win. Owen Farrell also came off the bench to play the second half at inside centre.
